The qualifying learner will be able to operate a skid steer loader by understanding the functions of starting, shutting down, and operating procedures for the machine.
Operate a Tracked Dozer
The qualifying learner will be able to operate a tracked dozer by understanding the functions of starting, shutting down and operating procedures for the machine.
Operate an Excavator
The qualifying learner will be able to operate an excavator by understanding the functions of starting, shutting down, and operating procedures for the machine.
Operate a Front-End Loader
The qualifying learner will be able to operate a front end loader by understanding the functions of starting, shutting down, and Operating procedures for the machine.
Operate a Backhoe / Loader
The qualifying learner will be able to operate a backhoe/loader by understanding the functions of starting, shutting down, and operating procedures for the machine.
Operate a Rigid Body Dump Truck
The qualifying learner will be able to operate a rigid body dump truck by understanding the functions of starting, shutting down, and operating procedures for the machine.
Operate a Rough Terrain / Earthmoving / Agricultural Equipment
Operating a lifting machine takes place within a regulatory framework that seeks to ensure the safety of the operator, the lifting machine, and the lifting machine environment. Rough terrain/earthmoving/agricultural equipment is dangerous, hence, their safe operation cannot be overstated. The learner will also acquire the competencies and skills to operate the components, systems, and levers to accomplish the task of lifting and handling loads appropriately.
Operate a Grader
The qualifying learner will be able to operate a grader by understanding the functions of starting, shutting down and operating procedures for the machine.
Operate an Articulated Dump Truck
The qualifying learner will be able to operate an articulated dump truck by understanding the functions of starting, shutting down, and operating procedures for the machine.
Load General Freight
The purpose of the learning credited in this unit standard is to ensure that learners are able to safely load, secure, and off-load freight carried on vehicles. Improved general freight loading prevents accidents where vehicles lose loads and ensure that loads and persons are not damaged or injured.
Operate Rigid Light Vehicle
Learners credited with this unit standard ensure safe, professional operation of rigid (no articulation points) light vehicles with a gross vehicle mass below 3.5 tons. Competent drivers are able to preserve vehicles as assets, drive safely and defensively, and contribute significantly to the economy by transporting goods and/or passengers.
Operate Rigid Heavy Vehicle
Purpose Learners credited with this unit standard can ensure safe, professional operation of rigid (no articulation points) heavy vehicles with a gross vehicle mass exceeding 3.5 tons. Competent drivers are able to preserve vehicles as assets, drive safely and defensively, and contribute significantly to the economy by transporting goods and/or passengers.
Operate a Vehicle Combination
Learners credited with this unit standard can ensure safe, professional operations of vehicle combinations with a gross vehicle mass exceeding 3.5 tons, and consisting of a drawing vehicle and trailer/s.
Plan Road Transport Services
The purpose of the learning is to ensure that professional drivers are able to deliver road transport services in a professional manner. By achieving this unit standard, learners are able to make informed choices regarding their own performance, as well as the performance of vehicles.
Convey Dangerous Goods
The purpose of learning is to ensure safe loading, conveying, and off-loading of dangerous goods according to legal and organizational requirements. Credited learners can convey dangerous goods in accordance with legal, safety, manufacturer, and other relevant requirements and handle incidents safely when they occur.
